Dallas Olympic Triathlon (Ironhead Triathlon)

Emily and I hit "Big D" for an olympic distance race and try to finish in spite of one obstacle thrown in our path after another. We go to the wrong place for packet pickup, Emily forgets her running shoes, and then she has a flat in the race. Listen to the audio to hear what happened and if she managed to finish the race.

If it hadn't been for Triboomer, we'd have been really up the proverbial creek without a gel shot. He not only co-hosted the show, but he also worked very hard to secure Huck a pair of shoes and guide us around the Greater Dallas area. He's been awarded the Triscoop Member of the Year Award, which comes with a free membership to Triscoop.com, free Zentriathlon podcasts, and free lunch at Bennigan's.

One of our many stops while in Dallas was Richardson Bike Mart. Not only is it Lance Armstrong's first sponsoring shop, it's frickin' HUGE. I've overheard that it's the largest bike shop in the USA and it also has a fantastic selection of fixies and single speeds (something that warms my hippy heart). Huck and I couldn't leave the joint until we'd racked up a basket of purchases, including cycling socks, Kaiman goggles, carbon bike shoes, and cycling jersies.

One last bit of audio I threw in was a great piece by Shinsplints from the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon. It was great of him to think about "The Deli Line" (512-CRY-DELI) and leave me up to a 2 minute voicemail (This is a subliminal message for you to call if you haven't gotten that yet) right from the race course. Thanks, Shinsplints!

puppies__3_.JPGI sandwiched the whole show inbetween an intro and outro recorded of us hanging out at our new local dog park. We had taken Roxy, our speed-demon greyhound, and she was running around at a blinding pace. It was her first time at dog park and it was cool to see her make buddies with dogs of different breeds. We can now be sure that our teachings of tolerance and non-discrimination are working.

You can find our race results at Run-Far.com.
